Summary:
The Insurance Coordinator will verify benefit eligibility for each new patient and provide the information on the patient appointment notes as well as updating the insurance plan coverage notes.
A review of existing insurance plans will need to be conducted annually to ensure that the coverage notes are still accurate.
Your contribution to the team includes:
Determines insurance eligibility and payment estimates for all patients with dental insurance.
Enters the insurance plan details in Dentrix and eligibility information on patient's appointment.
Educates patients, as necessary, regarding their insurance plan and their financial responsibility.
Verify insurance for patients scheduled.
Answer telephone.
Call in PREMEDS for patients as needed.
All PREMED and Blood Thinner instructions will need to be obtained from the patient's appropriate physician.
Scan them into the patient record and create alerts on the patient account.
Runs the Insurance Aging report weekly and follows-up with insurance companies to resolve payment delays, requests for additional information, or to discuss denials and appeals.
Follows up with patients as needed.
Also, zero out the claims as necessary and follow-up on filing secondary insurance.
Files insurance claims daily and sends information as requested by insurance companies such as x-rays, narratives and photos.
Keep the staff and doctors informed of any insurance concerns.
The Insurance Coordinator will serve as back up for the Front Office Associate when needed.
Post insurance payments to patient records and scan EOB's into patient records.
Administer pre-authorization of insurance benefits.
Maintains patient confidentiality and takes every precaution to secure electronic Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA.
Other related duties as assigned.
Must have's you'll need to be successful:
Knowledge of English composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Skilled in the use of basic office equipment such as:
telephones, calculators, copier, fax, computers and computer software (MS Excel, Word, Practice Management software).
Ability to be professional and maintain composure when dealing with stressful situations.
Ability to cooperatively work with the doctors, co-workers and patients and build relationships of trust.
Maintain confidence with the patient regarding doctors and staff.

Greet visitors and patients professionally and courteously.
Education/ Experience High school diploma or equivalent College Degree preferred Dental experience preferred Dentrix/Eaglesoft experience preferred Physical/ Environmental Requirements Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to patients and staff.
Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
Must have high manual dexterity.
Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
