Summary:
Under broad supervision, instructs or trains clients and/or students in a specific area of assignment as part of a program that includes an organized agenda of practical and workforce readiness instruction.
May serve as lead worker.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Plans a program of practical instruction to meet individual and group needs.
Plan and coordinates a comprehensive educational program for facility population.
Instructs clients or residents through lectures and demonstrations of the methods and techniques.
Estimates materials needed for inventory and specific areas, including cost.
Counsel and instructs clients in the habits of daily living and work routines.
Conducts educational activities with the goals of teaching decision-making and teaching social skills.
Conducts classes, workshops, and demonstrations to instruct in principles, techniques, or methods in subjects such as language skills, life skills, and workforce entry skills.
Assess student s education and adjust their needs through direct observation and testing.
Adapts instructional methods and materials to meet clients varying needs, abilities, and interests.
Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas.
Performs job responsibilities under minimal supervision.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR Associate s degree from an accredited college or university OR Vocational/Technical degree in area of assignment from an accredited college AND Two years of experience in the area of assignment OR One year of experience required at the lower level Practical Instructor 2 (EDT011) or position equivalent.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess the following:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
Career counseling and/or teaching experience.
T4 or higher certification.
